Astghik – Starflower

In ancient Armenian belief, Astghik is the goddess of love, beauty, and water.

In her honor, Armenians celebrated Vardavar, a festival held in the middle of July. During the celebration, people offered roses and rose petals to Astghik, released doves into the sky, splashed water on one another, and prayed to the goddess for rain to ease the summer heat and nourish the fields. People decorated the foreheads and horns of their livestock with flowers, and the entire day became a joyful celebration filled with songs, games, and festivity.

Thousands of years have passed, yet the spirit of Vardavar has endured. Today, it remains one of the most beloved Armenian festivals, and Astghik continues to be one of the most cherished Armenian female names, lovingly chosen by parents for their daughters.

'Avetis' "Astghik – Starflower" collection is dedicated to the real Astghiks—the girls and women among us who bear the name of the goddess and embody her beauty, grace, life-giving strength, and radiant light.

This collection is a tribute to Armenian culture, our ancestral roots, and to the women who, like the goddess Astghik, bring love, life, and beauty into the world.
